This poster featuring Untitled (2007) was produced in 2022, in conjunction with the exhibition Cy Twombly at Gagosian, Beverly Hills, bringing together paintings, sculptures, and works on paper by the artist.
Radiating a gestural force that first appeared in Twombly’s “blackboard” works of the 1960s and early 1970s, the painting features cursive lines, sweeping arcs, and drips of red paint against a yellow field. It exemplifies the artist’s return to painting at a large scale in the 2000s as well as his adoption of a new approach to color with palettes of lush, saturated hues.
