From New York–based brand Rome Pays Off, this T-shirt features Jean-Michel Basquiat’s cover art for the groundbreaking early hip-hop single “Beat Bop” (1983) printed on the front and back. The track includes free-flowing rapping by Rammellzee and K-Rob, a driving bass line, extensive reverb effects, and percussion by Al Diaz, cocreator with Basquiat of the SAMO© graffiti campaign. “Beat Bop” was produced by Basquiat and released on the artist’s own Tartown imprint with an original cover design featuring his distinctive juxtapositions of text and imagery including a crown, bones, and dollar signs.
