This cotton hooded sweatshirt designed by Takashi Murakami features drawings of skulls overlaid on a green-and-brown camouflage pattern. The repeated skulls are a motif that Murakami has employed throughout his career as a reminder of the ephemeral nature of life. The use of camouflage recalls the artist’s early Polyrhythm works, which incorporate toy soldiers to explore the complex relationship between Japan and the United States after World War II.
