Takashi Murakami: MG, 1960–2012
This limited-edition print by Takashi Murakami features contrasting motifs of bright smiling flowers and menacing representations of skulls. This imagery is drawn from a series of paintings that were first shown in Takashi Murakami: Flowers & Skulls at Gagosian, Hong Kong, in 2013. The works in the exhibition, Murakami’s first in Hong Kong, explored one of the central dichotomies of his art—between joy and terror, and between his optimistic magnanimity as an artist and his pessimistic perspective on postwar Japan.
