Roy Lichtenstein: Coup de Chapeau I Tote Bag
This tote bag featuring Coup de Chapeau I (1966) by Roy Lichtenstein was produced in conjunction with Lichtenstein Remembered at Gagosian, 980 Madison Avenue, New York. Presenting sculptures and related studies by Lichtenstein, the exhibition was organized to commemorate the centenary of the artist’s birth. Coup de Chapeau I represents the playful and explosive energy of a cartoon brawl, depicting an unseen individual’s hat flying in the air after an impact. In the sculpture, bright, swooping lines of red, white, and yellow clash with a burst of Lichtenstein’s signature Benday dots, reshaping the flat forms of comic books in three-dimensional space.
