This poster featuring Paloma debout (1954) was produced in 2010, in conjunction with Picasso: The Mediterranean Years (1945–1962) at Gagosian, Britannia Street, London. Curated by John Richardson and Bernard Ruiz-Picasso, the exhibition focused on the postwar years in which Picasso began to spend more time in the South of France, returning to the Mediterranean setting that had nourished some of his most important stylistic changes in the past. This is a portrait of Paloma Picasso—the artist’s daughter with Françoise Gilot—who was born in 1949 in Vallauris, France.
