Jonas Wood: Prints 2
This book was published on the occasion of the exhibition Jonas Wood: Prints 2 at Gagosian, 541 West 24th Street, New York. It documents the artist’s printmaking output from 2018 to 2022, reproducing more than thirty limited-edition prints made during this period along with brief statements from the artist. Among the works’ subjects are botanical and sports imagery, domestic interiors, and still lifes inspired by Wood’s wife Shio Kusaka’s ceramics. From peaceful rooms to moonlit gardens, Wood depicts everyday scenes and objects with a striking vibrancy born out of collaboration with expert printmakers.
In keeping with Wood’s emphasis on collaboration, the catalogue is organized into sections representing the different printmaking studios with which he has worked, including Aliso Editions, Cirrus Gallery and Cirrus Editions Ltd., Counter Editions, Hamilton Press, Mixografía, Pace Editions Inc., and his own imprint, WKS Editions. It features photographs of Wood’s prints in progress and a conversation between the artist and master printer Ed Hamilton in which they discuss the evolution of printing practices and Wood’s creative influences.
