Jeff Koons: Balloon Dog (Orange)
In partnership with Bernardaud, Jeff Koons has created a limited edition featuring a miniature version of his iconic Balloon Dog (1994–2000) sculpture, in highly reflective orange glazed porcelain, affixed to a Limoges porcelain plate.
A collection of shapes, Balloon Dog is both literal and abstract. When standing close to it, one’s own distorted reflection bends around the sculpture’s smooth pert curves. Each segment alone does not look like part of a dog’s anatomy—in fact, Koons often references human sexual anatomy—but, taken as a whole, Balloon Dog is an aloof sentinel cloaked in nostalgia.
