Brice Marden: Works on Paper
This poster featuring 15 × 15 6 (2015–17) was produced in 2025, in conjunction with Brice Marden: Works on Paper at Gagosian, rue de Ponthieu, Paris. The exhibition featured previously unseen drawings from the artist’s final two decades, revealing their highly personal quality.
The reproduced work, which was also included in Think of Them as Spaces: Brice Marden’s Drawings at the Menil Collection, Houston, in 2020, belongs to the 15 × 15 series and in its scale and palette is reminiscent of Marden’s earlier work. Integrating the artist’s distinctive calligraphic line, it features a loose network of black, white, and red marks against a pale green ground, and an unworked bottom border. Like other works in the series, it reveals the influence of Marden’s fascination with conceptual choreography, inviting the viewer to find routes across the sheet, retracing the artist’s own dancelike movements with a distinctive fluidity.
