This poster featuring Plane Image (1981–82) by Brice Marden was produced in 2026, in conjunction with Brice Marden: I Am Plane Image at Gagosian, West 21st Street, New York. A comprehensive survey of his paintings, the exhibition spanned six decades of his career.
Plane Image is a four-panel painting in oil on canvas that exemplifies Marden’s careful attention to the material presence of color and space. The concept of “Plane Image” was central to Marden’s practice. He explained: “I was very much involved with this idea [that] the image in my painting was the plane. . . . that they were inseparable.”
