Andy Warhol
This vintage poster featuring Shot Sage Blue Marilyn (1964) was produced in 1971, in conjunction with the exhibition Warhol at the Tate Gallery, London, featuring paintings and prints by the influential Pop art pioneer. Shot Sage Blue Marilyn, which later became the most expensive twentieth-century artwork ever to sell at auction, was based on a cropped publicity still from the Marilyn Monroe film Niagara (1953) and remains one of the most famous images ever made.
