Pablo Picasso: Portraits
This poster featuring Femme aux bras croises (1960) was produced in 1996, in conjunction with Pablo Picasso: Portraits at Gagosian, 980 Madison Avenue, New York. The exhibition featured seven oil-on-canvas portraits painted between 1920 and 1970. Created in February 1960, Femme aux bras croises depicts Picasso’s muse Jacqueline Roque—whom he would marry in March the following year—in an earthy palette and curvaceous lines, with multiple frontal and profile views integrated into a single presence. Picasso would create more portraits of Roque than of his other lovers.
