Michael Craig-Martin: Sculpture
This book was published on the occasion of Michael Craig-Martin: Sculpture at Gagosian, Britannia Street, London, the first indoor presentation of the artist’s sculpture. It focuses on six new powder-coated steel sculptures that describe everyday objects and appear like line drawings in the air. Depicting various items both timeles and distinctly contemporary, these elegant, monumental sculptures leave it up to viewers to attach their own personal narrative histories to the objects portrayed. An in-depth conversation between Craig-Martin and Lynn Zelevansky traces his development as an artist, addressing the centrality of drawing to his practice, and illuminating the relationship between the two-dimensional and the three-dimensional in his work.
