Michael Craig-Martin Notecard Set
This notecard set was produced on the occasion of Michael Craig-Martin at Gagosian, Athens, the artist’s first solo exhibition in Greece. It includes seven blank folded notecards and envelopes, in a jacket case.
The image on each card, like each painting in the exhibition, is predicated on a single word, such as “art” or “sign,” which Craig-Martin treats tautologically, interweaving the letters of the word, rendered in varying sizes, with line drawings of quotidian objects such as shoes, hammers, light bulbs, safety pins, and chairs, against a vivid monochrome background.
