Robert Rauschenberg: Sri Lanka VI Skateboard Decks
Produced by the Skateroom in collaboration with the Estate of Robert Rauschenberg, this set of three screenprinted skateboard decks features a detail from Rauschenberg’s Sri Lanka VI (1983). The work belongs to the Sri Lanka series of drawings, which combine solvent transfer imagery and watercolor on Sri Lankan ceremonial mat boards with decorative floral borders. Rauschenberg produced the work in his hotel room while traveling in the country, sourcing imagery from local publications.
The decks are intended for decorative purposes, but can be assembled into functioning skateboards. One wall mount per deck is provided to hang the edition on the wall.
