Richard Prince: High Times Album
These custom 12-inch albums were created by Richard Prince on the occasion of Richard Prince: High Times at Gagosian, West 21st Street, New York. The sleeves are emblazoned with the artist’s idiosyncratic names for different music genres—beat, hippie, hop, house, punk, techno, trance, wave—in colorful, hand-lettered text that shares an affinity with the Hippie Drawings and High Times Paintings included in the exhibition. Speaking of the works, Prince states, “I started imitating, as I usually do, other people. I was trying to imitate or channel what my kids were doing, because, you know, I can draw. But what I was interested in was the way they were drawing.” Each cover houses a randomly chosen secondhand vinyl disc sourced from Rat Records in Camberwell, London.
The complete set of nine is available for $750, while supplies last. The discount will automatically be applied when all versions are added to your bag.
