Jonas Wood: Plants and Animals
This book was published on the occasion of Jonas Wood: Plants and Animals at David Kordansky Gallery, Los Angeles. The exhibition of paintings and works on paper centered around recurring themes within Wood's work including flora and fauna as well as landscapes and the inhabited spaces of home and studio. Wood returns to the natural world and domestic life for his subjects, developing his works with attention to abstraction and subtleties of color, space, and mark making. In some works, he juxtaposes images found on the Internet with those of family members and pets, collaging together a pictorial fiction. The fully illustrated book includes the sources of Wood's imagery and preliminary studies, along with the artist’s detailed written accounts of the works’ origins and development, giving insights into his process.
