Cy Twombly
This book was published on the occasion of the exhibition Cy Twombly at Inverleith House, Edinburgh. It gathers recent plaster and bronze sculptures (including a single polychrome example), color photographs of tulips and peonies, and large-scale works on paper, all of which share a botanical theme unusual in the artist’s earlier output. The venue’s renowned garden and library provided a highly appropriate context for the exhibition. The fully illustrated catalogue features color plates and details of the exhibited works, as well as installation photography, a short text by Mark Francis, and a poem by Patricia Waters that reads “Rose / Brief, / brief in its beauty / but the scent / better than fame.”
