Norman McBeath and Edmund de Waal: Perdendosi
A portfolio produced in a limited edition of twenty-five and presented in a solander box with silver gilt title, Perdendosi includes a poetic text titled “Twelve Leaves” by artist, ceramicist, and writer Edmund de Waal, and twelve black-and-white photographs by photographer and printmaker Norman McBeath. The featured images depict leaves poised on the cusp of decay and detail the shapes they take on in the process of deterioration. De Waal’s intensely emotional response incorporates allusions to the writings of Paul Celan, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, and Marcel Proust.
