In this pastel-and-charcoal on canvas work, Saville combines snaking charcoal lines with soft passages of color, imbuing her enduring subject—the human body—with an elusive dimensionality that verges on the abstract and evoking the layered and fragmented texts unearthed at the Egyptian archaeological site of Oxyrhynchus itself.
