This poster featuring The Mothers (2011) was produced in 2011, in conjunction with Jenny Saville: Continuum at Gagosian, 980 Madison Avenue, New York. The painting is from a series of life-size works depicting the intimate relationship between mother and child inspired by Renaissance nativity portraits. Multiple impressions of each figure are drawn, erased, and superimposed to create a work in simultaneity; the relationship between the subjects is expressed in a series of dynamic poses rather than in a static composition of iconographic order.
