This limited-edition print by Jeff Wall depicts a small child in a sailor outfit emerging from the bushes in a park. The image was originally produced thirty years ago as a transparency in a lightbox. Its title, In the Public Garden, refers to the beautiful Venetian park in which the photo was taken. The new variation, an inkjet print on paper, brings out the original, more intimate “family snapshot” aspect—a more private and gentle way of experiencing the picture.
