Francis Bacon: Derrière le Miroir, No. 62, 1966
This deluxe edition of the November 1966 issue of Derrière le Miroir dedicated to Francis Bacon, which was limited to 150 copies, is complete with its original slipcase. Fully illustrated, it also includes five single-sheet color lithographs and one three-sheet foldout color lithograph. Published in French, the issue features text by Michel Leiris and an interview with Bacon by David Sylvester, the leading authority on Bacon’s work and his most significant interlocutor.
Renowned art magazine Derrière le Miroir was established by French dealer Aimé Maeght in 1946 and published without interruption until 1982. Issues often included original prints by artists that Maeght exhibited at his gallery. Of the two hundred issues produced, ninety-eight were also published as deluxe editions on heavier paper, most of them signed by the artist.
