Richard Prince: Inside World
In Inside World, Richard Prince intersperses cropped and distorted photographs reflecting the iconography of American machismo—biker culture, heavy metal, and stock car racing—with reproductions of artworks by Richard Artschwager, Francis Picabia, Gerhard Richter, Cindy Sherman, and others that focus on the aggressive and sexualized extremes of mass-media culture.
This deluxe slipcased edition of the publication includes an original drawing in the form of a joke handwritten by the artist. The work is not bound into the book, but rather loosely inserted within it, as it was originally issued. Published in 1989 by Thea Westreich and Kent Fine Art in an edition of 250, the book is signed and numbered by Prince, while the joke is signed and unnumbered.
