Donald Judd Furniture Retrospective
Designed by Donald Judd, this comprehensive catalogue raisonné of the artist’s furniture was published in conjunction with the exhibition Donald Judd Furniture Retrospective, originating at Museum Boymans-van Beuningen (now Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen), Rotterdam, Netherlands, where it was on view from April 25 to June 20, 1993, and traveling to Villa Stuck, Munich, from July 29 to October 3, 1993.
The book’s design, which was overseen by 8vo in London, includes a ribbed brown kraft paper dust jacket printed with an iconic grid pattern over hardcover wrapped boards. It features texts in English, Dutch, and German, including Judd’s essay “It’s Hard to Find a Good Lamp,” in which he recounts the development of his furniture and discusses his thoughts on design, and Brigitte Huck’s essay considering the artist’s furniture in relation to his overall oeuvre. Photographs of Judd’s furniture and of spaces that he designed in Küssnacht am Rigi, Switzerland; Marfa, Texas; and New York City sit alongside a biography, bibliography, and exhibition history.
