Damien Hirst: End of an Era
This book documents the exhibition Damien Hirst: End of an Era at Gagosian, 980 Madison Avenue, New York. The exhibition presented new works by the artist, including a severed bull’s head with golden horns crowned with a solid gold disc, which is suspended in formaldehyde and encased in a golden vitrine; photorealist paintings of famous diamonds; and diamond cabinets.
The extensive publication features more than 125 artworks—those exhibited as well as other related works. It also includes a conversation between Damien Hirst and Hans Ulrich Obrist, and twenty brief histories of diamonds depicted in the paintings, such as the Hope, Polar Star, and Excelsior I.
