Carsten Höller: Doubt
This book was published on the occasion of Carsten Höller: Doubt at Pirelli HangarBicocca, Milan. Curated by Vicente Todolí, the exhibition featured twenty-three large-scale artworks, including sculpture, video, photography, and participatory installations. Demanding sensory participation and perceptual focus, it unfolds along twinned, parallel paths, between which the visitor must choose. Höller’s artworks often induce a state of disorientation or uncertainty in visitors, which he regards as a productive state of the mind reflected in the exhibition’s title, Doubt.
The volume features extensive documentation of the exhibition, including a double-sided schematic overview drawing and a twenty-six-page gatefold of installation photography, providing readers with a comprehensive understanding of the show. The bilingual (English/Italian) catalogue also includes a foreword by Marco Tronchetti Provera; essays by Francesco Bonami and Stefanie Hessler; a conversation between Höller and Philippe Parreno, moderated by Andrea Lissoni; and in-depth entries and technical installation details on each of the exhibited works by Lucia Aspesi and Alessandro Cane.
