Anselm Kiefer
This limited-edition publication is one of a hundred deluxe copies of the exhibition catalogue published on the occasion of Anselm Kiefer’s retrospective at the Royal Academy of Arts, London, in 2014. The first significant presentation of the artist’s work in the United Kingdom, the show spanned forty years of Kiefer’s career and unveiled new work that was created in direct response to the Royal Academy galleries.
Housed in a gray cloth clamshell box, this hardcover edition is accompanied by a gelatin silver print by Kiefer which has been folded to serve as the book’s dust jacket and signed by the artist on the inside front flap. The catalogue includes in-depth essays by Richard Davey, Kathleen Soriano, and Christian Weikop that explore the themes of history, religion, and mythology in Kiefer’s work, as well as numerous studio photographs taken by the artist himself and a select bibliography.
