This poster featuring Two Eileens (2022) was produced in 2022, in conjunction with Anna Weyant: Baby, It Ain’t Over Till It’s Over, the artist’s debut exhibition with the gallery, at Gagosian, 980 Madison Avenue, New York.
The painting depicts the doubled figure of the title in two slightly different poses, suggesting subtly divergent aspects of the same persona and making reference to the biblical doubled image. Weyant’s precisely rendered female protagonists often find themselves embroiled in tragicomic narratives; here she employs her distinctive ironic wit to evoke the idiosyncrasies and contradictions of her subject’s character and status.
