Maurizio Cattelan: Four-Volume Set 2008–2024

Regular price Regular price $1,950

This unique four-volume survey of Maurizio Cattelan’s oeuvre comprises portfolios that were initially produced by Three Star Books on the occasion of the artist’s solo exhibitions at Kunsthaus Bregenz, Austria (2008); Palazzo Reale, Milan (2010); Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York (2011); and Moderna Museet, Stockholm (2024). Cattelan designed the publications’ large-format, loose-leaf, single-sided pages to fit inside printed cardboard slipcases, and reproductions of hand-painted copies of photographs of the artist’s works—alongside meticulously hand-lettered versions of the typeset essays—add the appearance of an artist’s project to this comprehensive accounting of his output to date.

The first volume, Die / Die more / Die Better / Die Again, illustrates numerous works and features an essay by Bice Curiger, artistic director of Fondation Vincent van Gogh Arles, France. The second volume, The Three Qattelan, includes painted reproductions of Cattelan’s works along with a text by his frequent curatorial collaborator Francesco Bonami. The third volume, The Taste of Others, again incorporates watercolor illustrations and interpolates a playful text by another of Cattelan’s long-term creative associates, New Museum artistic director Massimiliano Gioni. The 11th Commandment, the set’s fourth volume, details a final selection of works alongside an interview by former Guggenheim curator Nancy Spector.
