Regular price Regular price $200

The Edward Ruscha Catalogue Raisonné of the Paintings is an ongoing project by Gagosian that to date comprises seven volumes. Volume two documents the 178 paintings Ed Ruscha made between 1971 and 1982. They span the period from the artist’s crisis at the onset of the 1970s, when he “quit painting pictures,” to his first major museum retrospective, which opened in March 1982 at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. The volume contains a comprehensive exhibition history, bibliography, and biographical chronology, as well as sketches, studies, and documentary photos. It features a preface by editor Robert Dean, an essay by film historian Peter Wollen, and a reprint of an essay by architectural critic Reyner Banham.
