Marc Newson
This book was originally published on the occasion of the exhibition Marc Newson at Gagosian, 555 West 24th Street, New York. It highlights twenty-five limited-edition works by the designer—including chairs, tables, and shelves—that demonstrate an extreme level of complexity and sophistication in their creation. Transposing materials and techniques from one context to another, Newson produces complex and surprising forms, patterns, and textures. Each work is fashioned in a single, seamless construction from various materials, including marble and nickel. The publication also includes a conversation between Newson and Gagosian director Louise Neri exploring the designer’s thoughts on art and limited production in design.
