Evidence: Soundwalk Collective and Patti Smith
This book was published on the occasion of Evidence: Soundwalk Collective and Patti Smith at the Centre Pompidou, Paris, an exhibition designed by Stephan Crasneanscki, founder of Soundwalk Collective, with Patti Smith.
Between 2019 and 2021, Smith and Crasneanscki recorded Perfect Vision, a trio of albums that draw inspiration from Antonin Artaud, Arthur Rimbaud, and René Daumal. The multidisciplinary exhibition juxtaposed audio, films, abstract images, and objects collected throughout the muscians’ travels in Mexico, Ethiopia, and India, offering poetic immersion in their art and spirit.
The bilingual (French/English) catalogue features an introduction by Smith, an extensive three-part conversation between Smith and Crasneanscki, and a text by exhibition curators Chloé Siganos and Jean-Max Colard, alongside reproductions of artifacts documenting the collaboration, including photographs, drawings, collages, texts, and handwritten notes.
