Y.Z. Kami: Works, 1985–2018
This comprehensive monograph explores the breadth of Y.Z. Kami’s oeuvre, featuring over three hundred color reproductions of his early figure studies, photographic works, portraits, Dome paintings, sculpture, and works on paper. The publication includes texts by art critic Laura Cumming, curator Elena Geuna, and curator Robert Storr.
Cumming discusses Kami’s carefully rendered human faces and their hidden subjectivities, while a conversation between Geuna and the artist sheds light on his influences, past experiences, and conceptual approaches to oil paint itself. Rounding out the volume, Storr considers the unique “aura” of Kami’s work in relation to ideas of the unknown and unseen.
