Jasper Johns began using a “crosshatch” pattern in the early 1970s as a vivid and dynamic vehicle of expression. Originally created as a cover for the exhibition catalogue Screenprints, published by Brooke Alexander, Inc. in New York, the print Untitled (1977) showcases this motif. This example was never bound and has been framed maintaining the integrity of the object. The original book block is housed in an envelope mounted to the back of the frame.
