Repossi/Robert Mapplethorpe: “Jetty” Triple Ring
As part of an ongoing collaboration with the Robert Mapplethorpe Foundation, Paris jewelry house Repossi has created a collection of fine jewelry inspired by the artist’s own handmade jewelry and his early photography.
Inspired by a simple silver band worn by Patti Smith, Mapplethorpe’s erstwhile muse and companion, the three pieces in the Jetty line are unique for their use of two distinct polishing techniques—mirror-polishing as well as a brushed finish to create a “patina” effect. With its sharp angles, this line is also influenced by Repossi’s Antifer collection, and the exposed bar of the Berbere collection is echoed in the triple ring.
